How technology makes life easier – and what’s still up to you / UNSEEN (5/5) | DW Documentary technology and you

by charoenmotorcycles123DG

Green tech could help to clean our air, secure our food and protect our cities. An innovative plastic upcycling machine is one promising device made in Taiwan. But can technology really save the planet?

Sometimes it seems like a bad dream: floods, air pollution, traffic jams. Sometimes it feels like we’re surrounded by eco-monsters. But they can be defeated. YouTuber Alex Lin presents state-of-the-art devices. Arthur Zhang builds machines for upcycling plastics. And Japanese researchers are even working on mirrors in space.

DW presents: UNSEEN (Five-part documentary series)

UNSEEN opens your eyes. We travel through Southeast Asia and discover stories about people whose lives could be yours. In Indonesia, children suffer from air pollution – something doctors, architects and entrepreneurs are fighting with innovative and original concepts. Then we head to Malaysia for an episode in learning how to deal with microplastics in food. We follow a fan of great cuisine on his own personal journey. What’s safe to eat and drink? Which products are good, and which don’t measure up? Next up is Thailand’s capital Bangkok, one of Asia’s sinking cities. Its inhabitants prepare for future floods, adapting their city and seeking tools to make their homes safe. In Vietnam we get caught in gridlock. Nothing new! But this time, we’re stuck with some cool rappers teaching people how not to go crazy in traffic. And finally, in Taiwan, it’s all about green tech. Learn about the hopes and limits of the new technologies being developed to solve life’s challenges. Join us on an exciting trip in five episodes – one that will open your eyes to beastly challenges and promising solutions!

No matter how advance is the technology, but it cannot outcompete the gormless mind of a human being from which all-out exists. This urge to get it more advanced got us into a bottomless abyss having no direction at all; just look at the world and see what we have done! The earth is revolting against us is a blatant reality, but still, we are not ready to accept the warnings. If it ain't broken, don't fix it. This is very easy to understand, but we do not want to fathom it as we want to see for the virtue of our curiosity – a reason for our destruction to be, sooner or later. No one might know that how the pandemic started. In fact, they know where it happened, who did it, and why did it, but now they are scared and don't want to take the responsibility, so they are beating around the bush. No offense.

Tech is our future and we shouldn’t just ask others to consume lesss, why is it always the consumer’s problem that he consumes, don't corporations need to change as well.

What about digging big hole in central Africa and put all nuke inside it, then at 12 noon local time detonate it, maybe it could push earth little bit away from the sun and solve the warming issue.

The biggest advantage of the technology is that is the biggest generator of opportunities and consequently wealth. Its overall impact on humanity will only accelerate and not diminishes. Can you image where we would have been today if in Roman’s time, we had today’s technology?

Simple: Reduction in population is the key, imagine:- by 2121, population is just 50% of existing, means resources gets doubled for humans at 2121.

People will never accept crippling reduction of their standard of living. The only viable solution without bloodshed is a massive reduction in population through sterilization program. Obviously, the populace will never voluntarily sterilize themselves, so it must be done covertly. Perhaps manufacture a crisis and offer solution that surreptitiously sterilize people.

And in that is where the problem lays. "Technology can make a bomb, or it can make beautiful things". Last I checked we live in a very evil world! The world's wealthiest do not have our best interest in mind. Hell to them depopulation sounds like a great idea! So what do you think they are doing with modern technology?

Imagine a post apocalyptic world with earth surrounded by countless broken mirrors which change the incomming light and darken the sky

You can't reduce emissions out of this problem. Direct carbon sequestration from the atmosphere is the only answer. And yeah, that's a hell of a lot of tech. But it's doable.

Yeah it could save us, but we are focusing the technology to become more lazy.. Is sad for the people or companies who really are trying to create helpful stuff.

if wisdom were ablied it would be a deffrent story. but thanks to scientist the sense of nature is dead in human and with it morality and wisdom. like as milton friedman said (all can benefit from the free market and not at the cost of another) which contradict what we learn from nature (nothing come without price)

False. The prophets of the Americas, Indians, were correct; they warned and hated the way and lifestyle of the white man; civilization by coping with technology. The Hopi tribe shared the prophecy. I’m betting 10 numbers those are the same prophets who heard about God. When I mean God, I mean it’s the same God that will judge all of us including the DW staff. Yeah, Heavenly Father, God, The entity who created the Genesis, Truth, and the other titles he holds told those Indians to harvest the lands and not to search for furthermore. Civilization requires all of this technology to cope with nature, I get it, but the Indians didn’t need to impress God with their basic way of life. Didn’t God get mad during the Tower of Babel? It’s no wonder people don’t have resolution, peace, and a clear mind with these devices. It’s too late for all of us because we were born in the “Modern Western Civilization” timeline and it’s become harder and harder to live a simple life style like the Indians have. I’m not going to lie, video games and movies are a feature of civilization but sometimes there’s more to it. Look up the Hopi Tribe prophecy.
