  1. I love that this is being researched and that BBC is covering it, but the video's conclusions are either dated (the video is 5 years old, ofc) or incomplete. Echoing other comments in here, plants DO use green light. Each color has it's own benefit and electrical efficiency. Roughly, red increases biomass and is the most power efficient, blue suppresses cell division and makes plants stockier, green penetrates the canopy well and helps us diagnose health issues. Chlorophyll in a test tube doesn't perfectly mimic a plant's use of light.

  2. Cannabis growers know's all about this, Red is amazing for flowering, Oh an my Venus fly trap, Sundew's An Pitchers are loving my little LED Red an Blue light, Proper growing new shoots or mouths in days, lol, If you ain't got carnivorous plant's go on ebay an buy a few, They amazing for the flies during the summer plus they is fascinating for kid's, But yeah everyone should be growing their own food, Just like cannabis, The sense of achievement is moral boosting, Coz i knew when i grew some good bud, I sat there proud as can be, Like i said every house should have a little tent with some LED light's, Grow your own vegetables, Plus it a good thing too teach your kid's, In other word's the Pro's out weigh the Con's, So let us grow what ever we want in our houses, Even cannabis if it help's peoples illnesses, Boris could really boost the economy after this covid-19 by decriminalising or legalisation of cannabis, The amount of money cannabis could make is mind boggling, Million's would be made in the first week, It would stop street dealers, Who push other drug's on people, I even knew people who gives freebees out until mans got habit, Then you got too buy what ever dude got you addicted too, Seen it for years, Anyways Boris would wake the economy back up by legalisation, I would love a job growing cannabis Boris, lol, Just saying, Free the Tree of life plz………………………

  3. LED is NOT ready for primetime in cannabis growing. Much more than just blue and red wavelengths is needed and no one knows yet how to produce normal flowers with these lights. HPS will be the gold standard for at least another decade.

  4. The first things she says is 100% Incorrect.
     Plants use Green Light.
In fact you can grow Leafy plants with just green light.!
Good god. Lights that use Only red and Blue nm will fall short of expectations unless your just growing the most simply plants which are leafy like lettuce, we have known this since 2009.. I cant believe this was posted in 2015. We have known that just red and blue led lights sucks.. Good luck Brit Lab.
    PS:
Complex fruiting Plants need Dual wavelengths to be completely healthy.
The Industry is already going back to white led light which I produced with just white leds using 27000k and 4000k, 6500k cree xml Back In 2014
Complex Plants need "Intensity" to thrive people, thus why I figured out that by adding white light, which increases those intensities like the sun. So I adding white light to our 12 tested nm in our grow lights.
But of course China stole my wavelengths haha they steal everything and now the rest of the best factories in USA also have copied my nm used. hmmm wonder why. 🙂
So I'am just saying, Buyers beware, if a company wont share their wavelengths used. Or use some garbage wording to make them sound scientific. Keep walking. God Bless Our Earth……good luck

  5. How many hours a day for LED Grow Lights, Full Spectrum LED table desktop light for indoor succulents? And how often should I water?

  6. And this theory is just bad. You can grow with green light, and it goes through the canopy and reaches lower leaves too. Green is practically almost as efficient as red, but improves plant growth for lower foliage. It's the yellow that's unneeded/useless.

  7. i dont get it, we know that red light do incease plant grawth, but blue light are like decreasing the grawth, as from this is video they mixed the per of 5 red led then 2 blue ones, any1 knows why

  8. I like led it's cheap to buy you save money they are bright they last long they are safe for the environment they also do all sorts of tricks and they don't break as easy as old school style but I still like florescent due to lighting effects that gives off in my aquarium

  9. Blurple is toxic to the eyes, and besides plants do use a little broadspectrum light with green in it.    Whitish pink light is actually the best for plant health and the full nutrition they should be providing for consumption.  That light ratio can be had by simply adding 50% warm white LED.   This spectrum is also pleasant to the eyes.
