  1. My kids have had italki tutors for almost 4 years. And a couple preply ones. 3 of their tutors have seen them go from beginners to high intermediate. I love our tutors. Each has a different style and approach.

  2. Loved your video, I'm thining of becoming a teacher. Been an online teacher with another company for over a year. Is it possible to start off as a community teacher, and then move onto professional once you get the hang of the platform?

  3. I'm thinking about applying for a tutor on italkie, but I'm a bit confused regarding the payment options, should I go for paypal or payoneer and how do I actually activate the account? Also, what are the interview questions? Thanks in advance for the answers 🙂

  4. Nice to hear your thoughts about teaching on iTalki. I am an iTalki junkie lol. I often wondered if the teachers and community tutors had a positive experience. I myself would like to try tutoring one day on a platform such as this but right now it would take away from my learning. A language class is better than a movie. I have experienced the low of complete silence because the teacher and I were unable to communicate to the high of non-stop hilarity. I find iTalki more like a social network and the teachers like friends. I only wish iTalki would allow us to contact the teachers before booking. That would give it more of a social network feel.

  5. A nice video and very informative. I have a teaching qualification (Celta) and a BSc. and some years ago 2007 taught in Switzerland and Spain. Since then I have been on a different career path but would like to get back into teaching albeit online. I have been meaning to do it but never got around to actually getting the thing up and running.

  6. Hello Everyone..
Please Help me to clarify this.

It states in the Italki regulations that, we can only receive 5 attendance warnings and then after Italki will deactivate the account and The money will be freezed. But can anyone let me know this happens if we get,

    5 warnings within a month
    Or
    5 warnings all time

  7. I laughed out loud when you talked about the main issue tutors have when tutoring english online. Hahahaha It's always that "one bad egg"…..This is the truth though!!! I just joined iTalki but I've been teaching on other online learning platforms and that reason is THE ONLY issue I have as well! Thanks for sharing!

  8. When you say "create lesson plans" what do you mean? A lesson plan is the term used to describe an absolute pain in the ass where you have to prove that you planned out a lesson. It takes far more time than actually planning out a lesson does.

  9. Why some teachers on italki have their video on youtube player with italki monogram on it? While some others have it simple…? Can you please tell me?

  12. @melissa fallin – have you ever tried Preply? I'd love to hear you take on the differences between iTalki and Preply as they are two of the global leaders in the language learning marketplace. Pros, Cons and anything else relevant you can think of.

  13. One comment many of my tutors have said – is that their students don’t really try or prepare for class and do not talk – that of course means as a teacher you have to be even more creative. One thing I have seen with some teachers – we can see you looking at other websites when you should be listening! The screen reflects in their glasses!

  14. What do you do in situations where someone comes to you for a type of lesson you don't teach. Do you go ahead with the lesson? Do you do conversation practice instead? Do you say no and refund them? I'm looking to become an italki tutor and I honestly have no idea how I would handle that situation.

  17. @Crazy G  i registered myself on italki through desktop . I select urdu , english and punjabi in language skills and in teaching language i select urdu . After completing the registration , status shown that we will review the application within 10 business days . After that i opened my profile on my android phone and when i checked my profile in language skills e.g english , urdu and punjabi are showing but the teaching language which i select urdu is not showing . I want to ask you that whether it is any mistake or teaching language is shown after approval of my request?? Plz reply

  18. Hey Melissa, I just started teaching on iTalki and I was wondering if you have any tips on figuring out taxes seeing as we're considered independent contractors. Basically, I'm trying to figure out what percentage to hold onto and deductibles etc… This is a lot, I'm sorry, don't feel like you have to answer everything. And thank you for your videos! They've helped me a lot with my journey on iTalki!

  19. How did you download those esl materials from your first link- engoo.app? Do you even have to download them, or you can share your screen? Also, can you get into trouble for using them, because engoo is a teaching company? Thanks
